How to use Plotagraph software to enhance your travel photos

November 18, 2018 By Colby Cole

I had never heard of a plotagraph until just a couple of days ago. Ever since the discovery, I’ve been going through my travel photos and giving them new life. The results, I have to say, are incredible.

A plotagraph is essentially a still image that is given motion by using software to choose which parts of the image you would like to see move while other parts of the image remain still. The final product is like nothing I’ve seen before. But after using the new technology and seeing the results, I believe plotagraphs will soon be a part of everyone’s travel photo collection.

Creating a plotagraph is surprisingly easy thanks to the iOS app called Plotagraph Pro. The mobile version costs $4.99 per download. Unfortunately the app is not yet available on Android devices as of this publishing date, but the developers promise it’s coming soon.

There is also a desktop version. There is a free download available on the Plotagraph Pro website but the full version with all the features will cost you $29.99.

I’ve included a handful of examples below of my images modified by the Plotagraph Pro app. The original pictures can be found in the My Philippines Trip Photo Gallery.

Below is a picture of our Tao Philippines boat at sunrise. It’s one of my favorite photos to begin with so I wanted to see what I could do to it with the plotagraph app.
