Finding baseball’s playground at Arizona’s Spring Training

March 11, 2019 By Colby Cole

The first day it was Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. The next it was Josh Hader and Trevor Story. Then it was Clayton Kershaw and Nolan Arenado.

Was this the All-Star Game weekend? No, this was better.

A weekend in Phoenix during Spring Training is heaven for any baseball fan. While the games in Florida can be hours apart by car, all Cactus League games in Arizona are within a short drive of each other making it possible to see multiple teams and multiple stars play in one weekend.

On top of that, seeing the big-league teams playing in smaller ball parks is refreshing after having seen so many games at less friendly big-city stadiums during the regular season.

Teams start playing Cactus League games in the third week of February and continue into the third or fourth week of March, depending on which date the regular season begins.
