Guest Post: Bend’s Bunk + Brew

September 4, 2019 By John Dvorak

This is Frankie, the owner of the new Bunk + Brew hostel in Bend, Oregon. Frankie gets credit for being an incredible host while I stopped over in Bend this summer.

Now clean-shaven, Frankie and the Bunk + Brew team have converted Bend’s historic Lucas House – one of the first brick houses in town – into lodging designed for outdoor enthusiasts. There are private rooms, bunk rooms, and even low-cost options to sleep in hammocks in the yard.

On the website, Bunk + Brew describes itself as “the newest and ONLY affordable destination for the adventure traveler in downtown Bend, Oregon.”

The staff’s warm hospitality deserves credit. Bunk + Brew’s location is another plus, being only a few blocks from the heart of old town and a short drive to the popular recreation district on the Deschutes River.

In case you’re wondering, the Brew part of the name refers to Bend’s reputation as one of the country’s hotspots for micro breweries. Bunk + Brew is just a couple of blocks from the famous Bend Ale Trail, and at each guest gets a free beer when checking-in. So come thirsty!!
