Even though my travel wanderings in 2019 were neither prolific nor distant, keeping relatively close to home was still a treat. I am especially pleased with discovering new adventures in the desert expanse that is right in my Southern California backyard.
This photo gallery displays some of my favorite travel photos from 2019.
My one international departure was for my first ever visit to Mexico City in February. It was a beautiful experience made enjoyable with amazing food, fascinating history, interesting people, and rich culture.
In August I set out on a legendary 3,000-mile road trip through California, Oregon and Nevada. The journey was filled with hiking, rockhounding, drone flights, and lots and lots of driving.
Once the rockhounding hobby took hold, the latter third of the year was spent taking weekend trips into the Southern California desert.
Spring training in Arizona is becoming an annual pilgrimage. I spent a few days in Phoenix again watching a handful of baseball games, really enjoying the terrific weather there in March.
Hopefully I’ll get back there in 2020 to make it three years in a row.
Everything else next year remains a mystery so we’ll just have to wait and see.
